Who we are

At Citizen Health, we have a singular mission: to improve the lives of the 350 million+ people living with rare and complex conditions. We empower patients with seamless access and control over their health data that they can share across our multi-sided platform with caregivers, providers and researchers to illuminate better treatment and support options, while bringing therapies to patients faster. We support thousands of patients, work with a rapidly growing network of patient advocacy organizations, and innovate with leading biopharma organizations to accelerate therapies, always ensuring patients remain at the center.

We are a team of patients, caregivers, researchers and builders who have had first-hand experience across the spectrum of rare disease. Led by a seasoned founding team with a history of successful exits in healthcare and consumer startups, and supported by top-tier investors, we are a close-knit, mission-driven group seeking exceptional talents to join us.

The Role

As a Clinical RWE Scientist, you will serve as both a subject matter expert and hands-on analyst, working at the intersection of real-world data science and client-facing research. You will design and execute studies, write the code behind them, and partner closely with life sciences clients and internal commercial and product teams to ensure our real-world data offerings deliver meaningful value. This role requires equal comfort at the whiteboard defining a research question and at the keyboard executing it.

Responsibilities

Study Design & Research Execution

  • Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to define research questions, develop statistical analysis plans, and draft statements of work

  • Design, plan, and execute real-world data studies to support both internal product development and external client objectives

  • Generate clean, reproducible code and analytical workflows for descriptive and inferential analyses, ensuring high standards of data quality

  • Develop compelling visualizations and client-facing materials that communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Contribute to publications, conference presentations, and thought leadership to position Citizen as a real-world data innovator

Commercial Collaboration & Client Engagement

  • Partner closely with the Commercial team as the subject matter expert on Citizen Health's clinical data products, including participating in client meetings, leading project kick-offs, and ensuring timely, high-quality delivery

  • Drive research collaborations with external organizations across academia, biotech, and pharma

  • Translate complex data insights into clear materials that inform client decisions and feed back into feature development

  • Present research at conferences and serve as an external ambassador for Citizen Health's real-world data capabilities in rare disease and oncology

Who You Are

You are a scientifically rigorous problem solver who is equally at home designing a study and writing the code to run it. You thrive in fast-paced, mission-driven environments and enjoy translating complex data into clear, actionable insights. You ask thoughtful questions that challenge assumptions, see opportunity in messy real-world data, and bring both analytical depth and commercial instincts to every engagement. You love startups and can operate autonomously while knowing that collaboration is key to your success.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a quantitative discipline such as Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Statistics, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Public Health, or a related field

  • 5+ years of experience in clinical research, real-world data analytics, or life sciences consulting, including hands-on work with large healthcare datasets

  • Proficiency in R and SQL is required; experience generating reproducible analytical workflows in a research or production environment

  • Familiarity with clinical data standards and health informatics, including electronic medical records and standards such as ICD-9/10, SNOMED, LOINC, and FHIR

  • Demonstrated experience developing research protocols, statistical analysis plans, or peer-reviewed publications

  • Experience managing client-facing research collaborations or external partnerships, with strong project management skills and a track record of on-time delivery

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present findings to external stakeholders and represent the organization at conferences

  • Subject matter expertise in rare disease strongly preferred

  • Experience in a startup or fast-paced environment preferred

Benefits

  • Ownership: You'll have a seat at the table and your voice will shape the company.

  • Growth: We're scaling fast, and so will your responsibilities and opportunities.

  • Culture: Transparent, inclusive, and genuinely fun.

  • Competitive salary + equity

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance

  • Unlimited PTO

If you don't meet every single requirement but you're passionate about what we're building, we still encourage you to apply. Nobody checks all the boxes, and at Citizen Health, we believe the right candidate is much more than a list of qualifications on a resume.

At Citizen Health, we're committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We provide equal opportunities regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status.
