Datavant is expanding its global footprint with the development of our Life Sciences Tech Hub in Barcelona. At Datavant, our Life Sciences technology powers clinical research, real-world evidence generation, pharmacovigilance, and data collaboration across the healthcare ecosystem. As a Software Engineer in our Life Sciences Tech Hub, you will design and build systems that enable secure, privacy-preserving access to high-quality healthcare data used by pharmaceutical companies, biotech innovators, and research organizations worldwide. Your work will directly support the development of new therapies, accelerate clinical trials, and improve patient outcomes by ensuring that critical data is interoperable, scalable, and trustworthy.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll be trusted to drive projects end-to-end: shaping technical design, building scalable and reliable services, collaborating closely with product and cross-functional partners, and helping strengthen engineering practices as we expand in Barcelona.
Tech Stack You’ll Work With
Senior engineers at this level are expected to leverage Datavant technologies effectively, demonstrate fluency across the stack, and use their architectural experience to design systems that are scalable, reliable, secure, and maintainable within Datavant’s platform. Your work will span Datavant’s core technologies, including:
- Version Control: GitHub
- Language: Java, Python, TypeScript, Scala, SQL
- Big Data Processing: Apache Spark, Databricks, Snowflake, Airflow
- Framework: React, NestJS, Spring Boot, Hibernate
- Database/storage: MySQL, S3
- Build Tools: GHA, Maven, Sbt, Vite
- Infrastructure: AWS
- Container: Kubernetes
- IDE: IntelliJ, VSCode
- AI tooling: Codex, Claude Code
- Configuration Tools: Concord, Terraform, Pulumi
