This role partners closely with engineering, UI/UX, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into high-quality product increments while operating within an Agile delivery model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand client and stakeholder requirements, participate in functional and technical discussions, and translate needs into clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring prioritization based on business value, risk, and delivery impact.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams throughout the sprint lifecycle to clarify requirements, remove blockers, and support on-time delivery.
  • Coordinate and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to validate functionality, quality, and readiness for release.
  • Act as a primary liaison between business stakeholders (e.g., clinicians, operations, compliance) and engineering teams.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including backlog grooming, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Partner with UX/UI teams to ensure intuitive, user-centered solutions for healthcare professionals and end users.
  • Maintain awareness of healthcare regulations and interoperability considerations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, FHIR, ONC) and support compliance.
  • Support product releases and launches, including documentation, training materials, and stakeholder communication.
  • Track Agile and product metrics to monitor progress, identify risks, and contribute to continuous improvement.

Preferred Experience and Education

Core Proficiencies

  • 4–6 years of experience, including 3–4 years as a Product Owner or in a product-focused role, within the healthcare domain.
  • Strong experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Proficiency with Agile delivery tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to translate business needs into well-defined user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical and business teams.

Preferred / Strongly Desired

  • Understanding of healthcare workflows and care delivery processes.
  • Knowledge of interoperability standards such as FHIR, CCD, and CDA.
  • Working knowledge of HL7 data formats.
  • Familiarity with healthcare IT systems (EHR/EMR, LIS, RIS, Practice Management).

Good to Have

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent Agile certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

What Success Looks Like in the First 90 Days

  • Independently manages and prioritizes assigned product backlogs.
  • Delivers high-quality, sprint-ready user stories that reduce rework.
  • Successfully supports UAT and at least one release or feature launch.
  • Build trusted relationships with engineering and business stakeholders.
  • Use metrics and feedback to drive continuous improvement in delivery and product quality.
