Job Description
The Assistant Pharmacist in Charge at Fuze Health reports to the Pharmacist in Charge and plays a key role in supporting Pharmacy Operations. This role provides day-to-day operational and clinical support, including oversight of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, while collaborating cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient pharmacy operations. The Assistant Pharmacist in Charge performs the duties of a licensed Pharmacist and partners closely with the Pharmacist in Charge to maintain adherence to quality, regulatory, and efficiency standards, with a strong focus on patient safety and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Compliance & Oversight: Ensure full compliance with all federal, state, and local pharmacy laws and regulations, including URAC, NABP, CMS, DEA, and Board of Pharmacy requirements.
- Policy & Procedure Governance: Review, develop, and revise pharmacy policies and procedures to ensure alignment with regulatory standards and best practices.
- Pharmacy Operations: Perform the duties of a licensed Pharmacist, including dispensing oversight, verification, and ensuring the safety, security, and integrity of pharmaceutical inventory.
- Patient & Customer Care: Provide accurate drug information to patients and customers regarding dosage, administration, storage, interactions, and potential side effects.
- Team Leadership & Development: Provide oversight, training, coaching, and performance management for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians; participate in hiring, promotion, and professional development activities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with operations, compliance, quality, and leadership teams to support efficient workflows and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Special projects: Partner with leadership on operational initiatives, system enhancements, and process standardization. Partner with the PIC to identify risks and proactively recommend solutions to improve quality, efficiency, and patient experience
- Inspection & Audit Readiness: Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory inspections and audits, ensuring ongoing compliance and corrective action as needed.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Pharmacist license in the state of residence and good standing with the Board of Pharmacy.
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or PharmD required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a licensed Pharmacist, including at least 2 years in a management role and/or as a Pharmacist in Charge; community or retail pharmacy experience preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of federal and state pharmacy laws, rules, and regulations, including licensing, inspections, and facility compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage, train, coach, and develop pharmacy staff.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Proven ability to maintain compliance in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Willingness to obtain additional state pharmacist licenses as required to support business needs.

Additional Physical Job Requirements
Physical requirements for this role include the ability to work at a computer terminal for extended periods, move frequently around the pharmacy, stoop, bend, reach for equipment and supplies, make frequent repetitive motions to operate a computer and other pharmacy equipment, and lift, carry, push, pull, and move objects up to 50 pounds. The role also requires the ability to effectively communicate through verbal interactions, discern auditory information, and visually perceive details to perform essential job functions.
