Job Description

Unite Us is seeking a Senior Counsel (Regulatory) who is interested in working on our collaborative and mission-driven team as the primary legal advisor on regulatory matters. The Senior Counsel will work with our Legal and Government Affairs teams to  evaluate regulatory opportunities and challenges, advise on new state and federal laws and regulations that may impact the company’s operations, serve as a subject-matter expert on privacy, and support engagements with state and federal leaders addressing health and social care. This role reports to the Deputy General Counsel. 
 
What You'll Do:
 
Serve as the primary legal advisor on regulatory and privacy matters impacting Unite Us products and services, including issues related to health and social care, predictive analytics, data governance and data ethics, employment matters, and payments products
Represent the company in external engagements with government and community leaders on proposed laws, regulations and and privacy matters
Review and monitor federal and state legal and regulatory obligations and advise the executive team and team leads on such obligations
Advise the product and marketing teams on regulatory and privacy matters impacting new product features and marketing materials
Collaborate with the Government Affairs team on policy matters, including with respect to policy initiatives with federal agencies (e.g., OCR, ONC), state agencies, and other key stakeholders
Manage outside counsel on regulatory and privacy matters
 
You’re a great fit for this role if you have:
 
Undergraduate and law degree and admission to a recognized bar
At least 4 years of legal experience, with a combination of experience in law firm, government, and/or in-house roles
Experience advising on healthcare laws and regulations (e.g., HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, Stark and AKS), employment law, and state privacy laws preferred but not required
In-house experience preferred but not required
Familiarity with or ability to quickly learn software technologies such as Google Suite, Zoom, Slack, HubSpot, Asana, etc.

Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions:
 
This position is remote, U.S. based
The target pay range for this role is: $160,000 - $180,000
This position may require 5% travel 
This position requires software access level C
All team members will be required to pass a background check which includes criminal, employment, and education verification
